JUNGLE YOGA HIKE
BRING: HANDS FREE IS SAFEST AND MOST FUN FOR YOU
* Backpack: hands free makes all the difference in your engagement, fun and safety while hiking these more rugged trails that may require your hands to help, let me know and I can lend one if you dont have (you should be hands free to keep safer)
* Water (i drink 18-21 oz), snack, large towel, your wallet, keys, wear your swimsuit underneath if you think you want to go into the falls
- change of clothes if you want for after in case it rains a little etc (no mat needed)
* extra flip flops in plastic bag to change out muddy shoes on ride back (towels and flip flops dont need to fit in backpack)
DO NOT bring
- do NOT bring anything valuable to leave in the car; we leave our car unlocked out there as cars can get broken into around hiking areas or we may just get dropped off
-don't bring too much stuff). DON'T bring pricey sunglasses that may fall off in the water - 2/3rd of our day is in shade
- there is one 25 min yoga session in the open valley sun so let us know if you have any preferences we will try to adjust
CAMERAS (please have neck straps if you want to take it out alot)
- You should be hands free, really - its safer and more fun when you can have just a backpack and two free hands
- (you will more likely fall otherwise trying to juggle things as you pick yourself up over fallen trees etc
- - so if you bring a camera, please have a neck strap or you or else you may only be able to take it our on our various stops when its more suitable
- I'll have my camera phone out a lot to grab photos also but hands free is safest to traverse the streams, rocks and jungles
WHAT TO WEAR
* Wear long sleeve T-shirt layered over and longer pants or capris if you are worried about warding off mosquitoes
scratches from branches.
* Swimsuit under always a good idea in Hawaii (esp rugged version) - sweater / windbreaker if you think youll want in case it rains
- ill have repellent also (so we can TRY to avoid killing mosquitoes if we can, a tenant of yoga and zen.
- fyi: we may walk calf deep in streams at times so long shorts or capris may be ok
* I usually wear capri pants about calf legs, and a tank top- once in a while in winter i may wear a rain/wind breaker or light sweater
- this area is not known for lots of bugs, 90% of people rarely get bitten and they do not have any major diseases
- but if you are prone to bites- you may want to layer up more.
SHOES - (Didnt bring any? ABC stores, or any grocery/drug stores have reef walkers (water shoes) for about $12 - so great for use in any of our rocky beaches in hawaii also and highly recomended in Hawaii) (that way you dont have to worry about socks getting wet and you can step into the water to be safest when we cross the water around rocky streams/and if you climb around the rocks in the waterfall)
- Hiking/tennis/water shoes may provide more support if you need but with reef walkers you dont worry about getting socks wet and so that makes it alot safer. On particularly muddy days from recent rains, the water shoes may be more slippery to walk in so keep that in mind when choosing. I usually wear the water shoes always and go carefully so i love them. Teva like sandals are ok but toe covered is safer not to stub your toe.
- **Barefoot is dangerous- Flip Flops are IMPOSSIBLE with mud/rain.
We wash shoes after at a hose - so mud comes off easily and sometimes we dont get muddy at all depends on the weather
- we never walk in thick mud that sinks in past the ankle or anything but somedays mud can get to parts of the middle to top
of your shoes.
HAVE A GOOD BREAKFAST FIRST
-there are no restrooms there, its real nature...like if you were to go backpacking tent camping.
HIKE LOCATION
HAVE A CAR? Drive Yourself so you can continue your day more efficiently: Well meet you at 45 min after the start time - the location is near Kailua, east/leeward side. Many people prefer this so they can head to the beaches on the Kailua side after (the prettiest turquoise waters on our island)
*you can text before you leave if you want to make sure we're on same timing as I may pick others up from Waikiki at start time

LOCATION of ACTUAL HIKE
- Dirt lot on corner where small Nuuanu Pali and new large Pali Highway meets
- 4459 Nuuanu Pali Drive, Honolulu, HI
RIDING WITH US?
- We can gather at DRIVEWAY side of barefoot cafe at start time, and go from here- you can have a wonderful breakfast or coffee there - try to identify each other and gather together there at time indicated at the drive way of the cafe is (where the street is), our car will pull up there. Try to stay close by nearby table by the driveway so we can ID you- maybe sit down and say hi to your fellow hiker- this is a good time to make get to know each other a little bit before. Please give 10 min leeway after pick up time as I may have had to pull over to help hike guests with last minute questions.
- We found that people prefer this then being picked up at their hotel with crazy Waikiki traffic and one ways., to avoid sitting in a car for an hour for us to pick up everyone, and its easier to find people who do not have cell phones with them as hotel fronts are congested with too many people its hard to spot one another.
- on the ride home well try to drop you off closer to your hotel on the main roads where its less congested for all
